Pro Pick'Em - Unsportsman Writers Challenge
September 9th 2010 19:04
On the heels of our first football prediction post, and being as competitive as all of the writers here at UnSportsman are - we'll continue the trend as we unveil our yearly writers Pick'Em Challenge.
Here are the rules. We'll come up with a list of 6 games on a weekly basis - 4 games that we deem worthy, the home team pick, and then a wild card of each writers choosing. We'll put our own pride on the line and provide you with our straight up winning picks - all while keeping track for your viewing pleasure. A win is a win and we'll be awarded 1 point for each correct pick. At the end of the season, the writer with the most correct picks is the winner - and is allowed one entire off season to brag about it!
Here are the games we're choosing from this week:
Common Picks
Indianapolis @ Houston
Green Bay @ Philadelphia
Dallas @ Washington
Baltimore @ New York Jets
Homer Pick
San Fran @ Seattle
Elliott's Picks
Indianapolis
Green Bay
Dallas
Baltimore
Seattle
Wild Card Pick
Atlanta over Pittsburgh
I take great glee in picking against the Steelers. Atlanta will be good this year and Dixon will be abysmal.
Clint's Picks
Indianapolis
Green Bay
Dallas
Baltimore
Seattle
Wild Card Pick
Miami over Buffalo
Miami will control the time of possession by running the ball the majority of the time. This will allow its defense to stay fresh and man handle the anemic Buffalo offense. Miami will stack 8 men in the box daring Trent Edwards to beat them deep. Which will never happen.
Steve's Picks
Indianapolis
Green Bay
Dallas
Baltimore
San Fran
Wild Card Pick
San Diego over Kansas City
I think the Chargers have a rejuvenated running game with Ryan Matthews, and they have a fully healthy Antonio Gates ready to go. Too much talent for KC to stop, although it could be close because they're playing at Arrowhead.
Jesse's Picks
Indianapolis
Philadelphia
Washington
Baltimore
San Fran
Wild Card Pick
Tennessee over Oakland
Maybe they'll present Vince Young with the 2005 Heisman Trophy at halftime? Or maybe Chris Johnson runs for 250 yards? Either way. Not a fun day for Oakland.
Check back next Thursday for results and standings from this week - and to see what we have on tap for next week!
Happy NFL Week One!
