Pac 16 Updates
June 12th 2010 02:26
I'm going to start off with a link on this one:
Teams ready to move to Pac 10
Nebraska has officially applied for admittance to the Big Ten, which is of course expected to be approved shortly. This swings the door open for the final pieces of the Pac 16 to fall into place.
The only wild card at the moment is Texas A&M, which keeps bouncing between the SEC or Pac 10. It's hard for me to believe that Texas A&M would separate from the rest of the pack and go the complete opposite way, so even though they're flirting with the idea of going to the SEC, I think we can all expect them to be in the Pac 10 very soon.
According to the ESPN article I linked to, the big names I discussed in my previous post are just awaiting the Pac 10's invite, and that will be a done deal. So that will bring the conference up to the Pac 15. If for some reason Texas A&M decides to bolt for the SEC instead of the Pac 10, you have to believe that Utah would be the last member of the Pacific "Super ridiculous" conference of 16.
This whole thing just keeps getting more and more interesting with each passing day. It should be a really fun year to watch college football. Probably not for me as much since I'm a Wazzu fan, but seeing these super-conferences duke it out will be awesome.
There is one question I just can't get off my mind though. Boise State to the Mountain West?! An upgrade AT THE MOMENT, but you gotta believe that TCU will be in the Big 12 or whatever that conference becomes. And if Utah comes to the the Pac 10? What have they accomplished for themselves? Word of advice for BSU? Probably should wait to see what's going on with everyone else before you move conferences.
