Hot topics around the NFL this week
As we try to build this community together - I think it's imperative that we try and keep with the rapid news rate of today's 24-hour coverage media style. In that, I'll try and start a weekly (or so) "Quick Hits" column/discussion focused on little tidbits and info that I come across during the week.
It'll be an evolving process I'm sure - but let's give it a whirl. Please chime in and comment to start some discussion.
Suck For Luck Update
The 0-4's - Minnesota, St. Louis, Miami, Indianapolis
Out of these 0-fer's - the only one I can't see nabbing Luck at #1 would be St. Louis. Having Henne now out for the year probably moves Miami to the front of the pack.
The 1-3's - Philadelphia, Carolina, Seattle, Arizona, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Denver
Philadelphia, Carolina, Jacksonville and probably Kansas City (unless they dump Cassel and his massive contract) seem to be set at the position. Can't rule the Cardinals out either - as they have to be less than pleased with what they see out of Kolb so far. That leaves Denver and Seattle out of this group... yikes.
Feet Closest to the Fire
Tony Sparano - Miami Dolphins
Being the #1 contender in the 'Suck For Luck' sweepstakes doesn't bode well for a coach. Especially given that the team that lands Luck would most likely start with a fresh regime built around him.
Todd Haley - Kansas City Chiefs
This might be a stretch, but when your offense has put up 49 total points (lowest in NFL), and your defense has allowed 126 total points (highest in NFL) through 4 games - you're in trouble.
About Time for Parity in the NFL
Pittsburgh Steelers
About time they looked horrible.
Seattle Seahawks
11 losses in their last 12 games in the Eastern Standard Time Zone. Just saying.
Watch for This
Revis vs Welker
Rock and a hard place? Unstoppable force vs. impenetrable object? You catch my drift.
Oakland ground game vs Houston ground game
For those of us that are old enough to remember smash mouth football - this matchup should see quite a few stacked line formations. Will it be enough to stop these RB's?
Best Rumor of the Week
LeBron to the NFL
Please? Not so much because I love LeBron, but more for the fact that I hate him. Someone please sign him and send him on a crossing route, have the QB float it a little high... Mike Holmgren - make it so - you'd be well liked in your city.
