Mariners Sinking Ship
June 16th 2010 16:14
Yesterday I posted about some curious moves the Mariners have made as of late - maybe I should have added some moves they haven't made.
Recap: Ian Snell demoted with a 0-5 record and a 6.11 ERA.
Curious un-move: Ryan "The Hyphen" Rowland-Smith is still around. He was even handed the ball and the start yesterday. How'd that work out? 4 innings, 7 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk and 1 strikeout. Far from quality. Oh, and that drops him to 0-6 with a 6.33 ERA on the season.
With those numbers, even if he is out of options, he'll most likley clear waivers (like Snell) and land back in Tacoma. It's hard to imagine that a team in contention would look his way to "bolster" their bullpen or rotation for the stretch run. Even if he is snagged off of waivers by another team - is it a huge loss? He's been given all the chances in the world to make it as a Mariner Major Leaguer. It's time to cut bait on this guy.
