Looking back on a 6-8 weekend

October 28th 2010 22:19
: Week 7 in Review
6-8? How is that possible? Last week should have been a slam dunk. Let’s recap the games and see what wrong…
Falcons 39, Bengals 32 (Win)
Why doesn’t Roddy White get the attention T.O. and Ochocinco get? He had more receiving yardage (201) than the two had combined (196). Maybe when he’s older and his skills are gone he’ll get to star on a reality show where he picks females or does sit-ups in the driveway or whatever it is those two do on VH1. That was an easy win.

Redskins 17, Bears 14 (Loss)
Johnny Knox led the Bears with 6 catches for 86 yards. DeAngelo Hall would have been second on the team with 4 catches for 96 yards if he didn’t play for the Redskins. It wasn’t like McNabb had a good game (56.8 QB rating) but Cutler, wooft. Now that’s a guy that should have a reality show. They could follow him while he screws up around town. “Watch as Jay Cutler makes breakfast but can’t get the toast in the toaster”. “Tonight, Jay Cutler gets sacked 5 times walking from the parking lot to the movie theater”. A loss on account of picking the wrong shitty QB.

Titans 37, Eagles 19 (Win)
If you had told me Chris Johnson would be held to 66 yards, I would have picked the Eagles. But the Titans scored 27 in the 4th and Kenny Britt had 3 TDs two days after getting in a bar fight. Also, Kolb had 3 picks. Despite the bad game, why doesn’t a team make an offer for Kolb or Vick? Both are better than say Matt Cassel, wouldn’t the Chiefs be a serious contender with Michael Vick running the team?

Chiefs 42, Jaguars 20 (Win)
For the record, I didn’t watch any of this game. Looks like Todd Bouman threw two picks that were returned for touchdowns, but the poor guy hadn’t won as a starter since 2001 so him making a couple mistakes was kind of expected. The Chiefs already have the top rushing attack in the league, I’m telling you, a good QB and this team makes noise for the next couple of years.

Steelers and the refs 23, Dolphins 22 (Loss?)
Everyone is talking about how dumb the call after the review was, and rightfully so. Four Dolphins fell on the ball, one came from under the pile and handed the ball to the ref, but they couldn’t conclusively tell who recovered the fumble? Dumb. However, the real idiot was the line judge who originally called it a touchdown. Little Ben fumbled the ball a yard before hitting the goal line and he still enthusiastically signals a TD. I don’t know why the Stealers keep getting breaks from the refs but I’m tired of it.

Browns 30, Saints 17 (Loss)
Are the Saints actually good? It seems like the teams have adapted to their offense and the Saints haven’t adapted to that. I still expect them to turn it around at some point, but they really haven’t looked that good at any point this season. I really, really hope they don’t figure out what’s wrong before they play the Hawks.

Buccaneers 18, Rams 17 (Win)
I think it’s cute that Raheem Morris thinks his team is the best in the NFC. The Bucs have beaten the Browns, Bengals, Panthers and now the Rams. I’m just saying. However, I do really like Josh Freeman. That was a clutch 4th quarter and it helped our Seahawks. One more time this week against the Cards Josh, c’mon buddy.

Panthers 23, 49ers 20 (Loss)
How’d that David Carr thing work out for you Niners fans? Have fun with the Troy Smith era the next couple weeks. My happiest loss of the week that didn’t involve the Seahawks.

Ravens 37, Bills 34 (Win)
I feel really bad for Bills fans. Up by 14 with less than 5 minutes left in the first half and all of a sudden they were behind within 16 seconds of the 2nd half. I wasn’t watching the game Sunday so I had to keep refreshing ESPN.com to see if they had traded for Jay Cutler or something.

Raiders 59, Broncos 14 (Loss)
My stepdad is a huge Broncos fan. I got a text from him Sunday asking if I could stop picking Denver to win. After letting up 59 against the Raiders, it’s the least I can do. Is this the Raiders team we’ll be facing next weekend? Can we play the sucky version of the Raiders? Please?

Patriots 23, Chargers 20 (Win)
There were two boneheaded 4th quarter plays. The Patriots going for 4th and 1 from the 49 (they didn’t make it) and the Chargers going for a 45-yard field goal (after a penalty, it became a 50-yarder) with a kicker that make 67.8% of his kicks between 40-49 yards and 52.9% of his kicks from 50 . Wouldn’t going for it on 4th down be the better choice since a field goal just gets you to overtime anyways? By the way, New England had only 38 yards at halftime and was ahead 13-3. The Chargers won’t make the playoffs, and it has nothing to do with the amount of talent they put on the field.

Seahawks 22, Cardinals 10 (loss)
An ugly game, but a great win. Mike Williams continues to be awesome, Mare continues to be awesome, and the home crowd continues to be awesome. Can someone tell Hasselbeck that he’s allowed to get us in the end zone? As much fun as field goals can be, I promise touchdowns are even cooler.

Packers 28, Vikings 24 (Loss)
I keep banking on Favre and the Vikings getting better, and I keep getting burned. Brett looks terrible. That one pick where he threw to a spot where Randy Moss was 3 seconds earlier was excruciating to watch. If he hadn’t broken his ankle I think Brad Childress might have framed him for murder or something.

Giants 41, Cowboys 35 (Loss)
I can’t believe I took the Cowboys in this game. They look so, so terrible. For the record, that game was going to be a Cowboys loss with or without Romo. Speaking of which, it was fun to see Jon Kitna playing again!
