Hoping for a better week...

: Week 8 Picks
Well, we’ve already been through how I went 6-8 last week. Let’s get straight to the picks!

Miami@Cincinnati
How are the Bengals favored in this game? What am I missing? I’m not saying they can’t win, but shouldn’t the Dolphins be the favorite? Have the Bengals impressed anyone this season? Are they assuming the Dolphins get the same refs they got last week?
Dolphins 28-23

Jacksonville@Dallas
Yes, I too believe the Cowboys season is over, but I think Jon Kitna has a good game against the Jags. Or at least I hope he does. I’ve always liked Kitna and it’s nice to see him get the spotlight for a few weeks. That said, how much fun has it been watching Dallas tank this season? What a nice surprise to the season! It’s like when you find a lost 20 in an old pair of jeans, except it happens every Sunday.
Cowboys 22-17

Washington@Detroit
A crappy quarterback against a crappy team. Yay. Speaking of crappy, can I be the 1,000,000 person to say the BCS system sucks? Even if Boise State wins out and gets to play for a championship (and they do deserve to), the system still sucks. Any of the like 16 teams could be in there. Hey NCAA, can you please give us a playoff before you start alienating fans for good? Everyone wants one, stop pretending anyone actually cares about the BCS.
Redskins 31-21
NCAA 1, common sense 0

Buffalo@Kansas City
Hey! Ryan Fitzgerald didn’t end up being that bad! 382 yards last week? 4 TDs? All against the Ravens defense? Very impressive. Too bad that he plays for the Bills and that trumps anything good he might do. As for the Chiefs, they’re getting closer and closer to an improbable AFC West title. Games at Oakland and at Denver the next two weeks will be the true test.
Chiefs 28-24

Carolina@St. Louis
Big thanks to the Panthers for putting that extra nail into the Niners coffin. Now help us one more time this week! Speaking of Carolina, why haven’t they traded Steve Smith yet? He’s still a good receiver, he’s unhappy because they stink, why not grab some draft picks for him? They’re at least 3 years away from contending again, seems like a win-win.
Rams 19-13

Green Bay@NY Jets
I’m beginning to think the Packers aren’t that good of a team. Yeah, they won last week, but that was mostly due to Favre flinging the football as recklessly as he flings around cell phone pics. On the other hand, I’m also beginning to think the Jets are that good of a team. Guessing it’ll be a long day for Rodgers.
Jets 24-13

Denver@San Francisco
How lucky is London to get these two teams? My theory is that the NFL wanted Pittsburgh to play abroad but they weren’t sure if Big Ben would be allowed to leave the country or not. So instead, now Europe gets to watch Troy Smith!!!
Niners 17-14

Tennessee@San Diego
Big game for the Chargers. They’ve been horrible all season due almost exclusively to mental mistakes and bad coaching (50 yard field goal for the tie Norv?). I’m banking on the Chargers shooting themselves in the foot at some point in this game.
Titans 27-24

Minnesota@New England
Seriously, no one cares about this penis pic thing. It’s good for a couple of random jokes and that’s it. There are about 1000 football players in my lifetime that have done worse things, I don’t need 24-hour coverage on what Jen Sterger may or may not do. Only time I ever cared about Jen Sterger was when she was in Maxim, and that was like 6 years ago. It looks like Brett is going to play, which should be good for the Patriots. Poor guy looks very, very average.
Patriots 35-30

Tampa Bay@Arizona
Cardinals looked terrible against the Hawks; Tampa Bay looked terrible for 50 minutes against the Rams. Going with the home team here.
Cards 23-17

Pittsburgh@New Orleans
Big game for the Saints. Playing at home against a very good team a week after getting demolished by the Cleveland Browns and blowing up every suicide pool I had. I’m still at a loss for why Big Ben gets favorable calls from the refs. Maybe after whatever sexual harassment charge he gets out of next offseason the NFL will be less kind to him.
Steelers 31-28

Houston@Indy
Yeah, the Texans won the first matchup. I know it, you know it. Peyton knows it.
Colts 35-14

Seattle@Oakland
Mike Williams! Who would have thought? Come on guys, you can do this!
Raiders 21-18
Have a Happy Halloween everyone!
