***04/01/2011 UPDATE***
No need for any real update here. All brackets were used for toilet paper pretty much after Round 1. Turk did sneak out a 'victory' amongst us here at UnSportsman. Enjoy hanging that on your wall Turk.
So it's been a while, huh folks?!
I wish there was a way to share with you my email box for this site. It's jammed packed with variations of "where are you's?" and "are you guys ok's?". It's nice to feel loved guys, it really is, but to "Nathan" - 1 email a day for the last 17 days is a little stalker-ish. In other news, Steve's home phone number is 509-99... I kid, I kid.
Ok. Back to it.
I recently was forced to take a red-eye flight to JFK which left Sunday night from Sea-Tac. I was sitting at my gate around 5:30pm waiting to board when a plane arrived from Los Angeles at the next gate and as people began to de-plane, there was a group of kids - teenagers - that came off all dressed the same. Khaki pants, black polo shirts, purple backpacks. They congregated near the gate as they waited for each in their group to come out of the tunnel. All told there where maybe 20 of them. Finally the last in the group game off the plane. He was carrying a large trophy - by large I'd say about 4 feet tall. As he exited the tunnel, he triumphantly raised the trophy above his head and proclaimed : "It made it without a scratch!!!". The group cheered (overly) loudly and everyone in the general area couldn't help but look their way.
This caused the expected whispering and talking amongst the folks seated around them - and I overheard the gentleman sitting next to me proclaim to his wife : "That must be the UW Huskies and THAT'S THE PAC-10 BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS TROPHY!!!" Now, this wasn't some old confused Grandpa sitting next to me guys. This was a mid-30's dude. WEARING A UW PULLOVER. At first, I actually looked again. I must have missed something on first glance, I thought. Nope. These were still early teens, 50/50 mix of boys and girls, AND ALL WHITE. Now I'm not saying that last part as any part of racism or stereo-typical-ness - I'm saying it to make a point. This dude actually thought this was the UW Men's basketball team. Again, at first, I thought he was joking. The subsequent cell phone pictures he took and the two 'urgent' calls to his friends that followed confirmed the fact that he truly believed he had just seen the UW Men's Basketball team and PAC-10 Trophy right before his very eyes.
It was going to be a long flight.
Similar to the long flight that those aforementioned #7 seed UW Huskies (WITH THE PAC-10 TROPHY!!!) have to take to play their first game of the NCAA Tournament against #10 seed Georgia. Not to mention, if they get by that game (if because they travel so well...), they most likely face #2 seed North Carolina. In North Carolina. Great draw.
That being said, all 4 of us here at Unsportsman have filled out our Brackets - I mean, what kind of experts would we be if we hadn't. Each of us has selected that UNC/UW matchup. However - surprise, surprise - 2 idiots selected UW to win that match up, and 2 geniuses have selected the correct team, UNC, to move on.
Since there is no great way to share with you our brackets 100%, I'll just give each of our Final Four picks and Champion picks - and fill you in with how our brackets are progressing as the tournament goes on.

I'll keep you posted as we go along - and in the meantime, I'll go looking for some "weekly" columns on some other websites, since we clearly no longer do that.
