To celebrate today's Ex-Seattle Player(s) I stopped by Starbuck's this morning (rather than my normal Sexy Bikini Baurista stand, I mean, this is Seattle Washington, right?) and bought a latte. I promptly dumped it out on the ground.
Doing this served two purposes. One - it garnered a very strange look from the drive-up window (fully-clothed) lady, who had handed it to me a mere 2 seconds earlier; and two - it allowed me in my own little way to stick it to Howard Shultz. Granted, I paid for the coffee and wasted my $4, but I figured hey, if I'm going to pay homage to the Sonics... I might as well make it a realistic stab in the back.
On the eve of their season opener, we felt it was prudent to give a quick shout out to the Seattle Superso... Errr... Oklahoma City Thunder. So, here's to you Clay Bennett - may you reach the finals and truly give us here in Seattle one final push off the ledge as you celebrate your franchise's second* title! (*Because even though the stats and numbers were supposed to stay - they didn't.)
A large part of us here in the Northwest truly wish the Portland Trailblazers had drafted Kevin Durant and we ended up with Greg Oden. At least then we would save ourselves the next 6 months of ESPN highlights and MVP race watching... Of course, then we'd have to look out for some other kind of pictures (yeah, get in line Favre).
Nonetheless - the Thunder are a deep and talented team, and actually matchup against the Lakers quite well. With some even calling them the dark-horse to win the NBA title - it was an obvious choice to slate the Oklahoma City Thunder here for our Special Edition of the Ex-Seattle Player of the Week!
